Dr. Janice Marie Collins

If we were sitting together right now, I’d likely ask you how you take your tea—and genuinely wait for your answer.

I’m Dr. Janice Marie Collins, founder of Theoretical Tea & Company, and at my core, I am a listener, a storyteller, and a bridge-builder. I’ve spent decades in journalism, education, and documentary storytelling, but what has always mattered most to me is people—their voices, their lived experiences, and their right to be heard with dignity.

My work as an award-winning journalist, scholar-practitioner, educator, and creative has taken me across communities, classrooms, and countries. Along the way, I’ve learned that the most powerful insights don’t always come from podiums or panels—they often come from quiet conversations, shared stories, and moments of honest reflection.

That belief is the heart of Theoretical Tea & Company.

Here, theory meets humanity.
Scholarship meets lived experience.
And conversations unfold with care.

I bring to this space a spirit rooted in kindness, curiosity, and accountability. I believe in asking thoughtful questions, holding space for complexity, and honoring difference without diminishing anyone’s humanity. Whether the topic is culture, identity, media, healing, leadership, or lived truth, my approach remains the same: listen first, speak with intention, and leave people better than you found them.

Why Tea?

Because tea slows us down.
It invites presence.
It reminds us that wisdom doesn’t need to shout.

Theoretical Tea & Company exists for those who value reflection, respect, and real conversation—those who know that growth often begins with a simple question and the courage to listen.

So, welcome.
Make yourself comfortable.
The tea is warm, and the conversation is just beginning.
